Sync appointments with my Personal Calendar (iPhone / iPad / Google calendar / Outlook / etc.)
Allow me to Sync my appointments with iCal.
When you make a reservation or delete a reservation it should link up with you calendar on the iPhone/iPad.
We’ve been looking into this further. It’s a feature we would love to add and I believe we will. Ideally if an appointment was created or edited in Flight Schedule Pro, your personal calendar would immediately be updated.
However, there’s a real down side to us syncing with personal calendars. It’s the fact that they new appointments won’t show up immediately and when appointments are rescheduled in Flight Schedule Pro the update won’t be seen for many hours in your personal calendar.
For example, if you use Google Calendar, it could take 8 hours or more for an appointment rescheduled in Flight Schedule Pro to show the correct start-time in Google Calendar.
Google knows about this issue, but it’s not something they plan on fixing.
I just wanted to share this information with you and see if you still love this full sync feature.
Would you mind commenting and letting us know your thoughts at the link below?

Why not just make it an ical link.... I have multiple calendars I use this way and it works great.... across multiple platforms.

This isn't only a nice to have, it is essential in the modern world. I don't do anything that is not on my phone calendar. Currently our scheduler has to fill in both FSP and iCal. Looking forward to the capability.

Adding links as Jasen Barnes suggested to the reservation emails would be great along with an overall calendar sync (don't really care about delay as we can update urgent app with email.)
Allowing you to add individual appointments to your calendar manually is very straightforward and will work flawlessly. If there were changes to an appointment you could just click to re-add the appointment to your calendar and remove the old one. We can also include links to do this from reservation emails.
But this is not the full sync feature we are conversing about here - which has a huge downside (major delays in updating your personal calendar with new appointments or appointment changes). As a scheduling provider, the last thing we want to do is cause confusion around when appointments begin.

I don't use Google's calendar. I use Apples iCal. Is this issue the same with iCal? Maybe you could make the emails easier to dump an appointment into iCal with a single click. I have received emails with an "add to iCal" button in them.

I still think it would be useful, especially if it is implemented in a standard format. If I can access the data from *your* site immediately after an update, than that is what I care about most.

This still would be a great feature to have even with issues involving immediate updating with Google.

When will the next version be ready that offers iCal sync for iPhone?
Hi All! We agree to that this is a great feature to add to Flight Schedule Pro. We've already started working on it on the new version. Thanks for all the feedback.

Please upgrade the status of this project from planned to started.
Do to unusual economics, it's better for me to live 1.5 hrs from my home base airport. My students know this, but sometimes they don't add it into their consideration when scheduling me. So, unless I'm constantly glued to my iPad like a child that is attached to its favorite toy, it's difficult to catch a scheduled flight on slow days (particularly in the morning) until it's too late for me to be there on time. Texting/calling/advanced-notice, you ask? Again with the occasional consideration lapse above.
Happens just often enough to be a pain to deal with. Considering blocking-out my schedule except for me only. Please prioritize this higher, or at least provide instructions on how to convert the RSS feed for use this way.

My hope is that you will make some progress on linking FSP with I calendars soon.

This would be great! Is it ever going to happen?

Just to be able to subscribe to it so that we can see it on our calendars is perfect. No need to have to convert it into any specific format if your calendar allows subscriptions like iCal or iPhone calendar.

standard ical or ics format for these would be great.

this would be great so I can have all my appointments both flying and other appointments in one place. Much needed instead of having to check the app and then add to my iPhone calendar.

Clone the repo below on a server and configure the variables at the top of the rss-iCal.php to get going. You can then subscribe on the iphone/pad/gcalendar/etc to: yourserver.com/calendar.ics. You'll need to make sure url rewriting works because I found that google calendar does not like the .php extension.

I wrote a simple php file to parse the XML rss feed and output a .ical that can be subscribed to on the iphone. Send me a message if you have a server somewhere and would like the code to do it yourself. Or send me your rss link and I'll setup a feed for you.

Agreed. Sync with iCal would be tremendously helpful. Having to use two calendars becomes tedious and has led me to confuse appointments a few times already.
Yes. Sync to iCal is one of the most needed features and should be very easy to add in now since just a minor tweak of the current export type format would at least be able to make a one at a time add. Also it is key that the format of the exports can be somewhat customized. Right now a generic event scheduled means I need to read all the notes to see who the flight is scheduled with ( looking at it from an instructor standpoint)

I'd like to add to that.... I think that the ical feature is needed in a big way... may not be able to edit the flights , but at least the flights will show up with my personal calendar, eliminating any personal/business conflicts
the ability to be able to see it all in the same location is in HUGE demand, as flights are edited, they will automatically change on my ical..
