How do I add a new role? (v3)

This article explains how to add a new role.
  1. Go to the Company menu and click Roles.
  2. Click Create New Role at the bottom of the page which will take you to the roles wizard.
    • General Information:
      1. Role Name. Enter a name for this role.
      2. Role Description. Enter a short description about what users will be assigned to this role.
      3. This is a Pilot Role. Check the box if these users will be making reservations for your aircraft and/or you want to store a pilot record for these users.
      4. This is an Instructor Role. Check the box if users assigned to this role will be listed in the resources section as instructors. Users assigned to this role will be schedulable instructors on Flight Schedule Pro, meaning other users will be able to make reservations for them.
      5. Click Save and Next. At this point you have created the role successfully. Now we will setup the permissions and preferences for the role.
    • Role Permissions:
      1. Check the box next to the permissions you want to give to users assigned to this role. Notice there are Administrative permissions and Personal permissions. In most cases, administrative permissions will allow users to do things that affect other users, whereas personal permissions usually apply only to the user and what they can do with their own information.
      2. Click Save and Next which will take you to the role preferences page.
    • Role Preferences:
      1. Set the preferences for this role
      2. Click Save and Next which will take you to the assign users page.
    • Assign Users (optional):
      • Follow the steps below if you would like to copy or move existing users to this role:
        1. With the assign users page you can either copy or move existing users to the role. If you copy a user to the role, the user will still be assigned to the role they were previously assigned to. However, if you move a user to a role, it will remove them from the previous role.
        2. Select a role. Select a role which will list users currently assigned to that role in the right box.
        3. Select the users. Select the users you want to assign to the role you are working with.
        4. Use the arrows to move users into the 3rd column that you want to assign to this role.
        5. Select copy or move.
        6. Click Save and Finish.
      • Assigning users to this role is optional. (To skip this step, click Skip and Finish at the bottom of the page.)
Notes: These tasks require you to have permission to Assign Users to Roles and to Create Roles. If your account does not have these permissions you will not be able to complete the above tasks.
